The Periodically Driven excited Hydrogen Atom
نویسنده
چکیده
This article describes the e ects of relatively strong, periodic perturbations on the classical and quantum dynamics of excited hydrogen atoms and the relation between these two dynamics. By considering a range of driving frequencies it is shown how the relative ratio of this to the unperturbed atomic frequencies a ects the response and the relation between the classical and quantum dynamics. After providing an introduction to the system a brief overview of its behaviour in six di erent frequency regimes is given. This is followed by a detailed discussion of the response of a one-dimensional atom driven by a resonant eld describing the subtle relations between the classical and quantum dynamics. This discussion is followed by a description of the more complex response of a three-dimensional hydrogen atom to a low frequency elliptically polarised eld where, again, we demonstrate that the relative time scales of the system a ect the dynamics in unexpected ways.

Quantization of electromagnetic fields in the presence of a spherical semiconductor quantum dot and spontaneous decay of an excited atom doped in this nanostructure
In this paper we consider electromagnetic field quantization in the presence of a dispersive and absorbing semiconductor quantum dot. By using macroscopic approach and Green's function method, quantization of electromagnetic field is investigated. Interaction of a two-level atom , which is doped in a semiconductor quantum dot, with the quantized field is considered and its spontaneous emission ...
متن کاملUltrafast excited state hydrogen atom transfer in salicylideneaniline driven by changes in aromaticity.
We investigated two important unresolved issues on excited state intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT) reactions, i.e., their driving force and the charge state of the transferred species by means of quantum chemical topology. We related changes in the aromaticity of a molecule after electron excitation to reaction dynamics in an excited state. Additionally, we found that the conveyed particle...
متن کاملSignatures of Anderson localization in the ionization rates of periodically driven Rydberg states
We provide a statistical characterization of the ionization yield of onedimensional, periodically driven Rydberg states of atomic hydrogen, in the spirit of Anderson localization theory. We find excellent agreement with predictions for the conductance across an Anderson localized, quasi one-dimensional, disordered wire, in the semiclassical limit of highly excited atomic initial states. For the...
متن کاملChaos and Localisation: Quantum Transport in Periodically Driven Atomic Systems
This thesis investigates quantum transport in the energy space of two paradigm systems of quantum chaos theory. These are highly excited hydrogen atoms subject to a microwave field, and kicked atoms which mimic the δ−kicked rotor model. Both of these systems show a complex dynamical evolution arising from the interaction with an external time-periodic driving force. In particular two quantum ph...
متن کاملNumerical study of the radial Schrodinger Equation for Hydrogen atom using Legendre wavelet
This paper deals with the Legendre wavelet (LW) collocation method for the numerical solution of the radial Schrodinger equation for hydrogen atom. Energy eigenvalues for the hydrogen bound system is derived -13.6 eV. Numerical results of the ground state modes of wave function for the hydrogen R(r) or the electron probability density function, has been presented. The numerical results ha...
